Post 16: A New Lightweight 2 Camera setup
My studio rig works well with a tripod, but is fairly bulky and heavy.I also wanted a lighter rig to take on trips, and use handheld as well as on a lightweight tripod. I ordered a really nice and light black anodized basic rail from 3D Stereo.com, and made new brackets out of 2" x1/8" flat aluminum, and a spacer to keep the lenses level with one camera upside down, that can be easily changed from horizontal to vertical. I will add a wide strap to hang the rig around my neck for street pictures. Since it is easy to drop and loose the small screws, I have a few extras on the spacer. The blue graduated rotating plate is used to shoot stitched panoramas. The cable release is connected to the 2 camera with a short 2.5mm stereo jack cable, or when the 2 cameras are connected with the short cable, the shutter release of one triggers the other.
